East Penn

A Celebration of the East Penn Family

Background

East Penn Manufacturing is an inspiring American success story of family, grit and overcoming the odds. In 1947, a hard-working father and son, DeLight Breidegam Sr. and Jr., began East Penn out of a tiny battery shop. Today, East Penn Manufacturing has grown to be an award winning world leader in battery technology and manufacturing, with Deka, its most recognized brand.

The Mission

Telling the East Penn story is where CrossRoads entered the picture. CrossRoads teamed up with East Penn Manufacturing’s marketing group to create the 70th Anniversary book.

Drawing upon hundreds of historical photos and documents at hand, the CrossRoads team went to work. The result was a 96 page, full color anniversary book highlighting key events by decade.

Notably, one challenge faced the CrossRoads team as they created the 70th anniversary book. Sadly, the book needed to include memoriam for two key East Penn leaders who had recently passed away.

East Penn is a close-knit community and the loss of two beloved leaders shook the community. So, CrossRoads crafted two memoriam celebrating the lives of Sally Miksiewicz, who passed June 2014, and her father, DeLight Breidegam Jr., who passed September 2015.

At the same time, the company dealt with management re-structure and employee sensitivities. This period of transition highlighted the bond between East Penn management and employees.

East Penn continues to always honor the past and build for the future.
